Ezeiza, officially Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE), is Buenos Aires's international airport, about 30 km southwest of the city. Domestic and regional flights mostly use Aeroparque (AEP), on the river side of the city. This is what to sort out before you land and what to expect afterwards: the terminals, getting online and the way into the city.
Before you land
A SIM bought in Argentina is registered to its user, and shops ask for a document. The eSIM is bought on this page and installed at home, so there is no counter and no queue before you reach the taxi rank.
Keep the QR code where you can open it without a connection, printed or on a second device. The QR code shows on your order page seconds after payment, so bookmark that page or save the code before you leave it.
Getting online
The terminals have free Wi-Fi, so you can add the eSIM while you wait for your bags if you did not do it at home (install the eSIM). The plan roams on an Argentine partner network and your phone shows its name, so turn on data roaming for the eSIM line after landing (switch it on after landing). Argentina's networks are Personal, Claro and Movistar.
Your usual SIM stays in the phone with your number, and WhatsApp keeps the same number while the eSIM carries your data. Travelling on? The plan on the Argentina eSIM page covers Argentina, Peru, Chile, Brazil and Ecuador with one eSIM.
From the airport to the city
Tienda León runs a bus and a door-to-door car service from EZE to downtown Buenos Aires and to Aeroparque; buy at its desk in arrivals. Bus 8 is the cheapest public option, from the terminal to Plaza de Mayo in the centre, and it takes the rechargeable SUBE card.
Taxis and remises use the official ranks outside arrivals; agree the fare before you set off, and check that the car is on the licensed rank rather than offered by someone inside the terminal.
The drive into the centre takes about 45 minutes outside rush hour, and longer in the morning and evening peaks.
